Date Chutney

Date Chutney – It’s a type of sour and sweet chutney (katta meetha). This chutney mainly used for snacks items and Chinese items. This chutney is a semi liquid with a pouring consistency.

Date Chutney

Ingredients for Date Chutney

  • Dates 50 gms
  • Sugar 20 gms
  • Red chillies 2
  • Ginger 5 gms
  • Garlic 5 gms
  • Vineger 60 ml
  • Salt to taste


  • Remove seeds from red chillies, and soak in vinegar.
  • Stone dates and grind.
  • Grind red chillies, garlic ad ginger using a little vinegar.
  • Make syrup of remaining vinegar and sugar.
  • Add ground spices and salt. Boil till syrup is thick.
  • Cool and add ground dates.
  • Serve with fried rice or rice pulao.


  • We can replace Tamarind and raw mango instead of vinegar, this gives different taste, but the procedure will be same.
  • While using tamarind, extract tamarind pulp and mix with sugar.
  • If it is raw mango grind the mango finely and mix with sugar use little water while mixing.
