Chapathi – A flat Indian bread made with whole wheat flour, knead to round shape of 2 to 3 inches. It is served as a breakfast.

Ingredients of Chapathi

  • whole wheat flour 250 gms
  • salt to taste
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • water 150 ml
  • all purpose flour (for dusting)

Preparation for Chapathi

  • First mix flour with salt and water and make a dough.
  • Knead the dough till it become soft then cover the dough with a damp cloth and keep aside for ½ to 1 hour.
  • Heat the pan with medium flame,
  • Mean while need the dough and make 8 no’s small balls.
  • Then roll the ball with roller till the ball flatten and get round shape of 2 to 3 inch, if it’s sticking use dusting flour.
  • Then place the flattened dough on to the heated pan, cook both sides by applying oil.
  • When the chapathi is cooked, it will puff and change its color to slight brown, remove from pan and serve it hot.


  • Don’t overcook the chappathi,
  • Taste good with kurma.
  • 2 to 3 can be served to each portion
