Puttu is a popular dish origin from Kerala Cuisine and it is also famous in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It is a traditional breakfast made with coarsely grated coconut and rice flour. It is a very healthy food.

Different typ of Puttu are done in South India as per their region. Some of these are Rava, Ragi, Atta (wheat), corn, black rice, etc.

Let me tell you a very simple and easy preparation, were, my mother cook for us.

Ingredients

  • rice flour 250 grams
  • jaggery 150 grams
  • salt a pinch
  • water just to mix
  • coconut ½ Piece
  • cardamom 2 No’s

Preparation of Puttu

  • First Clean and wash rice flour.
  • Secondly mix rice flour, salt, water, and steam cook in a pressure cooker for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from cooker once the pressure is reduced in cooker.
  • Bring the mixture to normal temperature and add jaggery,
  • Grate coconut and powder cardamom and mix it well with the mixture
  • Finally the dish can be served as a breakfast or evening snacks.
