Pulihora a typical traditional South Indian breakfast, especially from Andhra Cuisine, they generally call it has Pulihora/Pulihaara or tamarind rice. This dish is mainly prepared during festival time, it is been offer to God as naivedyam.
Since the dish is prepared from tamarind as a basic ingredient, the rice will taste pulp, and this dish also will stay for long without spoiling, therefore many people carry this food while they are going for long journey.

Ingredients for Pulihora
Rice 350 gms
Oil 3 tbsp
Tamarind (Pulp) 5 tbsp
Curry leaves 2 strings
Red chillies 2 No’s
Mustard seeds ½ tsp
Channa dal 1 tbsp
Urad dal 1 tbsp
Peanut 1 pinch
Salt to taste
Turmeric as require
Preparation of Pulihora
First clean, wash and cook rice.
Similarly soak tamarind in water to get the pulp.
Once the rice is cooked, remove from flame and keep aside.
And extract pulp from the soaked tamarind.
Know place a fry pan in a medium flame, add little oil, pinch of turmeric, curry leaves, red chillies, pea nuts and fry till the peanuts are done and remove from flame and spread it on the cooked rice.
Then in the same fry pan add remaining oil and mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal, hing and tamarind pulp and fry in low flame, till the tamarind consistency get little thicker and the raw flavor goes from the tamarind pulp.
Know add the cooked pulp and rice and mix well, similarly add salt as per your requirement.
