Methi Rice

Methi Pulao – the main ingredient for this rice is methi, we can peas also in to this rice. This dish will give us a rich aroma of methi leaves, a less spicy rice, which can be served with Raitha.

Methi Pulao

Ingredients for Methi Pulao

  1. Basamati rice ½ kgs
  2. Methi leaves (fenugreek) ½ bunch
  3. Tomato 1 No
  4. Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
  5. Garlic flakes 8 No’s
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil 2 tbsp
  8. Green chillies
  9. Cumin seeds
  10. Water 1 ltr

Preparation of Methi Pulao

  • First clean and wash rice and soak in water.
  • Then finely chop garlic flakes.
  • Clean the methi leaves and keep aside, do not chop them.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and add garlic, cumin seeds, green chillies slit and slightly sauté.
  • Then add methi leaves and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Know add chopped tomatoes, salt and turmeric powder, cook for some while.
  • And add soaked rice in to the mixture and blend with methi.
  • Add the required quantity of water, close the lid and cook till boil and lower the flame.
  • Cook for 15 minutes in a low flame, and serve hot.
